The Cassowary or ‘Big Chook’
Cassowary
Cassowaries are indeed very large ‘chooks’ up to 2m
tall and weighing as heavy as 60kg.
In Australia, sadly, Cassowaries can only be found running free
in the Cape York Peninsula, Cooktown and Paluma. There is a caged
one in Darling Harbour in Sydney
but that’s another story.
With just over thousand Aussie Cassowaries left it is very important
that you don’t run one over. Slow down and drive carefully
where you see the Cassowary sign.

most memorable things you can do whilst in Australia.

of a myth.
