What to do in Queensland, Australia?

1 (1) The Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef QueenslandGreat Barrier Reef Queensland
The Great, the Bold and the Beautiful Great Barrier Reef

One of the great wonders of the world for its size (2,000 km expanse of beautiful coral with all its inhabitants) and splendour the Great Barrier Reef awaits you just off the Queensland coast.

3 (-) The Daintree Rainforest, Far North Queensland

The Daintree Rainforest is home to the largest range of plants and animals on earth, within the largest rainforest in Australia. The Daintree is one of the oldest, most diverse and beautiful examples of Mother Nature on the planet.

The Daintree Rainforest is a very special part of the world. You might even see a 'Big Chook' (see below)

The Cassowary or ‘Big Chook’

Daintree CassowaryCassowary

Cassowaries are indeed very large ‘chooks’ up to 2m tall and weighing as heavy as 60kg.

In Australia, sadly, Cassowaries can only be found running free in the Cape York Peninsula, Cooktown and Paluma. There is a caged one in Darling Harbour in Sydney but that’s another story.

With just over thousand Aussie Cassowaries left it is very important that you don’t run one over. Slow down and drive carefully where you see the Cassowary sign.

There are ample photo opportunities for you here so don't forget to bring your camera!

This Cape Tribulation tour will truly be one of the best and the most memorable things you can do whilst in Australia.

8 (34) Long Island - Whitsundays

Long Island mostly attracts budget travellers and those looking to 'get away from it all' without having to sacrifice too many of life's modern conveniences.

Long Island Spanish Galleon?

You should look out for the Spanish galleon which is supposedly lying off of the coast of Long Island. Sightings of an old timber ship, Aboriginal stories of a shipwrecked crew and a claim that coins have been washed up on a beach have created the beginnings of a myth.

Why is Long Island called Long Island?
